The victims were so horribly disfigured that the coroner had to use dental records to identify Walker and Rodas, and to determine which one of them was behind the wheel.

The autopsy results from the death of actor Paul Walker has been released and they determine that Walker was alive after impact and before the car burst into flames. Toxicology reports will still take six to eight weeks according to the coroner.
Walker died from “combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries,” meaning the initial impact and severe burn injuries.
They have also ruled that the impact itself resulted in the death of the driver, Roger Rodas.
While authorities have determined speed was a factor in the deaths and crash, they have not determined the cause of the crash.

December 4, 2013 - Paul Walker death: Coroner plans more tests before autopsy complete
BY RICHARD WINTON
The Los Angeles County coroner's office will likely take several more weeks before presenting a final autopsy report for “Fast and Furious” star Paul Walker, who died Saturday in a car crash in Santa Clarita.
Preliminary results released Wednesday said Walker died from a combination of traumatic injuries and burns after the Porsche he was riding in crashed and erupted in flames. The car's driver, 38-year-old Roger Rodas, died from traumatic injuries, coroner's officials said.
Further details about the crash and deaths will be provided when the autopsy report is completed, officials said. Results of toxicology tests -- common in autopsies -- will not be available for six to eight weeks.
Los Angeles County Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said the men died "within seconds" of the crash.
The deaths have been ruled an accident, with the injuries occurring as the result of "auto versus fixed object." Although witnesses confirmed that Rodas and Walker were in the car, the men were positively identified through dental records.
They were killed about 3:30 p.m. Saturday when the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT crashed into a pole and several trees on Hercules Street in Santa Clarita.
Detectives have not determined what caused the crash, but a preliminary investigation indicates speed was a factor, Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker said.
Just how fast the car was moving is to be determined. The speed limit on the street is 45 mph.
Friends have told authorities the high-performance Porsche was not street racing at the time, and L.A. County sheriff's officials say eyewitnesses did not see a second car.
The limited-production, 2005 Porsche Carrera GT has a history of being difficult to control.
The sports car is capable of reaching 100 mph in under seven seconds. It was built without the stability management system that most Porsche models are equipped with.
Jeremy Clarkson, co-host of the BBC's "Top Gear" television show, said during his review of the car: "You need to be awake to drive this fast. It really isn't an easy car to control. The clutch is brutal, the power is savage and the handling ... you really are on a knife edge. But if you put in the effort, boy, oh boy do you get the rewards.
"It is a phenomenon -- mind-blowingly good. Make a mistake, it bites your head off.”

December 4, 2013 - Big questions in Walker crash probe
- updated 3:18 PM EST 12.04.13Big questions in Walker crash probeBy Josh Levs, CNNNo smoke for a minute after Walker crash
(CNN) - Four days after the crash that killed actor Paul Walker and his friend and financial manager Roger Rodas, big questions remain unanswered, including:
Did anything go wrong with the vehicle?
The Porsche Carrera GT the two men were in has three times the horsepower of the average car. It's powered by a V-10, 610-horsepower engine. At $450,000 new, it flies down the roadand is notoriously difficult to handle.
A top driver has called the car "scary," Autoweek magazine reported.
Rodas was the sixth owner of this one, the magazine said.
Rodas was driving Saturday, according to autopsy results released Wednesday by the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Authorities say speed was a factor in the crash. Still, Walker and Rodas were both experienced drivers, leading many to question whether something went wrong with the vehicle.
Jim Torp, a car enthusiast who was at the charity event where Rodas and Walker had been just before the crash, said he thought he heard some kind of blast before the car slammed into a light pole. "What the first explosion was -- I don't know if their tire blew up, because it sounded like a tire blew on the car," Torp told CNN on Monday.
How fast were they going?
The area where the crash took place -- a wide business park road in Valencia, California -- has a reputation for being popular with drivers who like the thrill of going fast. In recent years, authorities have tried to stop the speeding in the area.
A 45-mph speed limit sign was on the light pole knocked down by the Porsche. A security camera video, which does not show the car itself, suggests that black smoke started to rise from the vehicle about a minute after the light pole and tree fell.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigation is focused on how fast the 2005 vehicle was going.
Skid marks on the asphalt near the crash site, which indicate a car had done doughnut spins, also are being examined, but Torp told CNN that he looked closely at the skid marks and believes they were left by a car with smaller tires.
Was anyone else in danger?
Amid the outpouring of grief for the deaths of Walker and Rodas, many people are also asking whether the ride had endangered pedestrians or other drivers. It took place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Online stories about the crash are filled with comments from readers saying it's fortunate that no one else was killed or injured.
In 2001, when the first "Fast & Furious" movie was released, Walker talked about the dangers of drag racing. "Nothing would be worse than a 120-mile-an-hour blowout, on a surface street, you know, with pedestrians lining up and down. You know, it's just common sense, it's just not worth the risk factor," he said.
Authorities have ruled out drag racing in this accident, and those who knew Walker and Rodas say they were not the sort of people who would risk their lives and others' in a race.

December 4, 2014 - Paul Walker Died Within Seconds of Crash, Coroner Rules
Paul Walker died from the "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries" in Saturday's car accident in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office reported today.
Walker, 40, was the passenger in a 2005 Porsche driven by financial adviser Roger Rodas, 38, that crashed and then erupted in flames after striking a light pole and tree.
Walker, 40, was the passenger in a 2005 Porsche driven by financial adviser Roger Rodas, 38, that crashed and then erupted in flames after striking a light pole and tree.
The coroner's office told ABC News that two different doctors did autopsies on the two men. They found that Rodas died on impact, with Walker dying "maybe" a few seconds after from the combined effects of the impact and the fire.
"Both deaths have been ruled by the coroner to be accidents," the report adds.
The report confirms that the two men who died in the vehicle were in fact Walker and Rodas, after reports earlier in the week that dental records were needed to identify the deceased.
Toxicology reports are expected in six to eight weeks.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's investigators are still trying to determine the cause of Saturday's crash, which claimed the life of the "Fast & Furious" star and his friend. They have said speed was a factor.
Sheriff's detective Jeff Maag told People magazine the driver "was doing well over 45 [mph] – [it's] fair to say at least twice that."
That means Maag believes Rodas was going at least 90 mph on a street where the limit was just 45.
He added it will take days or weeks to complete the investigation and conclude how fast the car was going and whether mechanical problems caused the crash.

December 2, 2013 - Paul Walker death: Eight-year-old son of Porsche driver Roger Rodas tried to rescue his father
The eight-year-old son of Roger Rodas was one of the first to try and rescue his father after the car he was travelling in with actor Paul Walker crashed and burst into flames.
Mr Rodas and Mr Walker had been on a 20 minute drive and were on the way back to an event hosted by the Fast & Furious star’s charity, when Mr Rodas seems to have lost control of his Porsche Carrera GT.
The vehicle smashed through a lamppost and into a tree before being engulfed in flames, killing them both.
The crash happened so close to the event that friends and family, including Mr Rodas’ son, ran to the wreckage to try and put out the fire and rescue the pair.
“I ran over afterwards, I was trying to find Roger’s son,” Jim Torp, an eyewitness who attended the event told the New York Daily News.
“I found out his son had jumped the fence and gone over, he was trying to get his dad out. Paul Walker’s best friend was trying to get Paul out of the car while it was still on fire ... he was trying to save his friend ... there was nothing he could do.”
Another witness and friend of Mr Walker, Antonio Holmes told The Santa Clarita Valley Signal: “We all heard from our location [the accident]. It’s a little difficult to know what it was. Someone called it in and said it was a vehicle fire.
“We all ran around and jumped in cars and grabbed fire extinguishers and immediately went to the vehicle. It was engulfed in flames. There was nothing. They were trapped. Employees, friends of the shop. We tried. We tried. We went through fire extinguishers.”
Walker is survived by his 15-year-old daughter Meadow, who is said to have recently moved to California from Hawaii to be closer to him.
Although the exact cause of the crash is currently unknown, local police have said “speed was at least a contributing factor”.
Mr Walker, had recently started working on the seventh installment of the Fast and Furious franchise alongside Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Production of the film will continue but with some delays, it has been reported.

Valencia -- Witnesses that came upon the scene of Saturday's fiery solo car crash that killed internationally renowned actor Paul Walker of "Fast & Furious" fame and former race car driver Roger Rodas said they watched helplessly as the pair inside the vehicle were quickly engulfed in flames.
Firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene at the 28300 block of Rye Canyon Loop but were unable to save either of the two men. Both were declared dead at the scene of the collision, according to county fire dispatch supervisor Kyle Sanford. Authorities late Saturday said speed was a factor.
"The fire was too big -- we couldn't do anything. It was 15 or 20 feet high," said Brandon Torp, 28, of Santa Clarita, who said he was one of the first people on the scene.
Torp said he and at least three others grabbed fire extinguishers from the custom car shop, Always Evolving, where a charity event for Walker's organization Reach Out Worldwide was winding down at an industrial center.
"We were trying to put it out, but we got pushed away by the fire department and the sheriff's," Torp, who said he knew both men, added. "It all happened so quick. It just got swarmed with people so fast and everything was kind of crazy."
One of Walker's close friends, which Torp only knew by the name "Newt" ran to the front of the car and tried to pull Walker out but "sheriff's pushed him away" because of the danger, Torp said.
Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Investigator Dana Bee said though investigators obviously had information about the possible identity of the badly burned bodies, they officially remained listed as John Does at the coroner's office pending positive identification.
"They are not identifiable by conventional means, and that includes fingerprints," Bee said. "So, we've established contact with representatives from both families."
Coroner's investigators were working to compare dental records of Walker and Rodas to the teeth of the men killed in Saturday's crash and said the investigation was ongoing.
Torp's father Jim Torp, also of Santa Clarita, also attended the event and said he heard a "big bang," saw smoke and asked the employees of Always Evolving to check it out. While some initially thought it was smoke from a special effects business, they soon realized that it was a car accident and that Walker and Rodas were trapped inside, he said.
"They grabbed their fire extinguishers, they came up here and there was nothing they could do for them," Jim Torp said.
While racing between cars is known to sometimes happen in that area, the Torps said they do not believe Rodas and Walker were racing at the time of the crash.
Walker of the "Fast & Furious" movie series and Rodas, who were partners of Always Evolving, were laughing and enjoying themselves at the car show and toy drive held at the custom car shop minutes before the fiery crash claimed their lives.
Statements from witnesses and those close the pair have confirmed their deaths.
"Thank you all for your condolences and prayers while we mourn the loss of our loved ones," said a posting Sunday on the Always Evolving Facebook page.
On Sunday, more than a hundred fans of Walker and Rodas gathered at a large memorial at the crash site that was laden with flowers, votive candles and condolences for the families as curious drivers slowly drove by the site.
Patty and Sean Kelly, also of Santa Clarita, were at the memorial to pay their respects since they and their five children, most of whom are grown and live out of the area, are big fans of Walker's.
"We're sad, he was a great actor and a great humanitarian," Patty Kelly said. "It's hard to believe."
Sean added; "Our kids followed his movies pretty closely and we felt we had to come here because our kids are all spread around...We figured we'd pay our respects on behalf of our kids."
Brothers Daniel and Louie Macatangay of Koreatown, who became huge fans of the "Fast & Furious" movies while living in their native Philippines, were also at the crash site to offer their respects to Walker.
"I got into racing (in the Philippines) by watching his first movie, 'Fast & Furious'" said Louie Macatangay, 24. "He opened my mind to everything."
The brothers also said they appreciated Walker's efforts to help raise funds for the disaster-prone Philippines in the wake of the nation's recent earthquake and typhoon.
On a memorial board, fans wrote messages, such as "RIP Paul and Roger, we will be thinking of you, forever in our hearts" and "Race in Paradise."
Fellow actors and friends have continued to take to social media to express shock and dismay at the news of the accident.
"Brother, I will miss you very much. Heaven has gained a new angel. Rest in peace," Vin Diesel said of Walker on Twitter. The two starred in several of the "Fast & Furious" movies together, and were filming "Fast & Furious 7" at the time of Walker's death.
Walker, a Glendale native who attended Village Christian School in Sun Valley, also starred in the suspense drama, "Hours," which is set for release this month.

December 3, 2013 - Paul Walker And Roger Rodas Were Not Street Racing, Officials Say

Paul Walker's Fans Gather At The Crash Site Memorial
Fans pay tribute to the "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker at the crash site in Valencia, California.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – While the neighborhood where "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker died in a fiery crash is known to attract street racers, law enforcement officials do not believe the Porsche he and a friend were riding in had been racing another car.
Accident investigators "have received eyewitness statements that the car involved was traveling alone at a high rate of speed," the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement Monday. "No eyewitness has contacted the (department) to say there was a second vehicle."
Walker and his friend and fellow fast-car enthusiast Roger Rodas died Saturday when Rodas' 2005 Porsche Carrera GT smashed into a light pole and tree, then exploded in flames. The posted limit was 45 mph.
The two had taken what was expected to be a brief drive away from a charity fundraiser and toy drive at Rodas' custom car shop in the Southern California community of Valencia, about 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Walker's publicist said the action star was the passenger.
The crash happened on a street that forms an approximately 1-mile loop amid industrial office parks. It is rimmed by hills and relatively isolated from traffic, especially on weekends when the businesses are closed.
"It's well-known out here that that's a hot spot for street racers," California Highway Patrol Sgt. Rick Miler said.
Skid marks are a testament to past antics on the loop. The sheriff's department, which polices the neighborhood, said Saturday's wreck was not the first speed-related crash there, but would not reveal specifics.
Meanwhile, investigators are consulting video from security cameras, talking to witnesses and analyzing physical evidence such as on-board computer data from the Porsche.
A steady stream of fans has flocked to the crash site to leave flowers, candles and memorabilia from the action films.
On Monday night, a private memorial for survivors and the cast and crew of the "Fast & Furious" movies was held inside a white tent erected around the crash site. When it was over, Walker's co-star Vin Diesel emerged to thank fans for paying their respect to the actor.
"Thank you for coming and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciated him," Diesel said to the crowd, using the bullhorn of a police cruiser.
Officials have not named either person found in the car. The bodies were so badly burned by the fire that engulfed the wreck that dental records will be needed to confirm their identities.
Walker and Rodas had bonded over their shared love of fast cars.
Rodas, 38, and Walker, 40, co-owned an auto racing team named after Rodas' shop, Always Evolving. Rodas was a financial adviser as well as a professional driver who competed in 10 Pirelli World Challenge GTS races in 2013. He finished second in rookie of the year standings, circuit spokesman Dave Drimmie said.
Walker starred in all but one of the six "Fast & Furious" blockbusters. He had been on break from shooting the latest installment; Universal Pictures has not said what it plans to do with "Fast & Furious 7," currently slated for a July release.

December 3, 2013 - 5 things to know about Roger Rodas, who died with Paul Walker

Here are five things to know about him:
He was married and had two young children
The 38-year-old El Salvador native was known as a loving family man, CNN affiliate KCAL reported.
His young son was among the first to arrive at the scene after the accident, said Jim Torp, a car enthusiast who was at the same charity event as Rodas and Walker. "I knew his son was heading towards the accident. And he got past me because he knew there was a fire and he wanted to see it. But he didn't know it was his dad until he saw the car."
He was a financial planner
Rodas was a managing director of wealth management for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. His LinkedIn profile noted that he was recognized on Barron's list of America's top 1,000 advisers each year from 2010 to 2012. Walker was a client; Rodas reorganized his portfolio, according to Merrill Lynch.
He loved racing
Rodas met Walker at a California race club. He was driving a Porsche that Walker had previously owned. "Soon the two were racing side by side," and at one point teamed up "with two professional drivers in a pro-am 25-hour endurance race" in Thunder Hill, California, Merrill Lynch says on its website.
He created and owned a racing shop
Rodas was the owner of Always Evolving, a racing shop in Los Angeles. He was also captain of its racing team. Walker is listed as a driver on the team, according to the team's website.
On its Facebook page, the shop posted a message Sunday: "Thank you all for your condolences and prayers while we mourn the loss of our loved ones." The post has hundreds of comments, including this from Natalie White: "RIP Paul and Roger. You two will be missed, and your lives will be remembered and shared in the memories you left behind in your friends, family, and fans."
He was a philanthropist
First, Rodas had a charity of his own, raising money to help orphans and widows in El Salvador. Then, he and Walker created Reach Out Worldwide, a network of first responders who help in the wake of natural disasters. The organization was holding a charity event, which Rodas and Walker attended just before the car they were in crashed nearby.

‘They had their ups and downs but they were together and looking to spend a bright future together.
Jasmine’s presence in Walker’s life may have been one of the reasons why Meadow decided to move in with him earlier this year, having spent her entire childhood with her mother Rebecca McBrain, who lives in Hawaii.
Meanwhile, a fake Facebook page purporting to belong to Meadow Walker was shut down today.
Walker's reps contacted Facebook directly. On the page, the imposter paid tribute to Walker, calling him her 'real life hero'.
The teenager has not been seen since her terrible loss on Saturday.
Walker, now 40, was raised a Mormon in a working class California family, but his good looks - he was once described as a ‘young Steve McQueen’ - meant he was never lacking female attention.
He also strayed from the family values his parents instilled in him and when he was 18 faced a felony charge though he has never revealed what it was. The case was reduced to a misdemeanor.
When Rebecca got pregnant Walker was 25 but he refused to marry her, claiming that he was not mature enough even though it left him feeling like an ‘evil SOB’.
In one interview Walker said: ‘I knew where I was at with chicks and having fun. I mean, I was sleeping with her (Rebecca’s) friends, for crying out loud. You know what I mean?
‘I was an animal, and so I want to be there and my heart wants to be in it, but the mind just isn't following it’.
Walker shared custody of Meadow and has claimed that things were good between him and Rebecca.
He has said: ‘I love my daughter so much, and I love her mom too. We get along so well as a result of me playing it the way that I did.’
Walker had spent Thanksgiving with Meadow and friends and was scheduled to return to Atlanta to continue filming the seventh Fast and the Furious film when he died.
